Methylation problems such as MTHFR is always associated with fibromyalgia: at least all the cases I’ve seen. I think methylation problems, along with their vitamin deficiencies they cause, are the cause for the fatigue and CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) commonly found in fibromyalgia. This proves my point. (So if you have fibro or IC, get your metHylation and mitochondrial errors defined with my FOUNDATION METHYLATION GENETIC PANEL off my website under testing at www.danpursermd.com )

Use your zinc, total copper, and ceruloplasmin blood results to estimate NCC and the copper:zinc ratio.
How this estimate works
This uses the formula in Dr. Purser’s handout: NCC (µg/dL) = total copper (µg/dL) − 3 × ceruloplasmin (mg/dL). NCC percentage = NCC ÷ total copper × 100. Copper:zinc ratio = total copper ÷ zinc, using the same units.
Calculated NCC is an estimate. Test methods and how much copper is bound to ceruloplasmin can affect it. It differs from a direct lab measurement of labile or exchangeable copper. It cannot diagnose fibromyalgia or copper toxicity, or choose treatment for you. Read about the limits of calculated NCC at Mayo Clinic Laboratories ↗

Methylation support
Dr. Purser discusses these supplements in relation to MTHFR.
MTHFR Daily and Hydroxy B12 + Folinic Acid are alternatives. Your folate, vitamin B12, and genetic results can help your clinician choose between them.
Makes an enzyme that helps produce a form of folate used in the processing of homocysteine. Common variants are different from rare variants that cause severe MTHFR deficiency.
Jackson Larkin, one of our Purser Wellness Coaches discusses the need to support your Inflammatory Marker Genetics and what current supplements help achieve this.
