THE TEACHING CONNECTION

Read zinc together with copper
Zinc connects with immune function, hormones, copper handling and antioxidant enzymes. A plan for zinc should also account for other minerals and your actual results.
Putting the pieces together
Dr. Purser’s mineral teaching asks clinicians to avoid duplication and overcorrection. Reviewing zinc-containing lozenges, multivitamins and immune formulas together is more informative than checking one product in isolation. Symptoms alone do not identify which mineral is low.
How supplementation is approached
Dr. Purser reads zinc with copper and the wider mineral pattern. Check multivitamins, lozenges and immune formulas together so a new recommendation does not duplicate existing intake. A zinc plan should account for the effects of prolonged high intake on copper balance.
Food sources
Oysters; meat; poultry; beans; pumpkin seeds; fortified cereals.
Supplement forms
Zinc gluconate, citrate and sulfate are examples.
A question to bring to your visit
How does this recommendation fit my copper findings and the zinc already present in my products?
What to track and reassess
Keep track of your goal, how you feel and any follow-up tests you agreed on with your clinician. If symptoms persist, reassess the plan rather than simply taking more zinc.
From starting support to follow-up
If you and your clinician start a CMA replenishment plan, you may add one new product at a time, often waiting 3–7 days to see how you feel. A check-in is usually planned near ten weeks during an approximately 100-day period. Follow your written plan for amounts and timing. At follow-up, you may continue, change, or stop each item. This timetable does not automatically end longer-term support.
