Why this matters

Learn what progesterone is, how preparations differ, and which symptoms need a closer look.

How the pieces connect

Progesterone and other progestational agents differ. Discuss the symptom, preparation, route, benefits, and possible harms that matter to you.

Hormone names, formulations and goals matter

Dr. Purser distinguishes progesterone from other progestational agents and compares preparations. That distinction is a useful starting point, but it is only part of a treatment decision. The intended purpose, route, other hormones being used and individual history also matter. A claim about one preparation or one outcome cannot be transferred automatically to all products or uses. A symptoms discussion should lead to a clear goal rather than an assumption that everyone needs the same hormone level.

Keep in mind

“Natural” and “bioidentical” do not guarantee that a hormone is safe for you. Ask about the formulation, your goal, and your personal risks; broad cancer-prevention claims need their own evidence.

A question for your next conversation

Which preparation and treatment goal does the evidence address?
