Understand the connection

Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory condition that often affects the spine and sacroiliac joints. Stiffness, pain, and inflammation can involve more than one part of the body.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects the IL-23/Th17 and TNF-alpha pathways with inflammatory spine and joint disease. He discusses the distinction between controlling a cytokine with a targeted medicine and addressing oxidative stress with antioxidant support.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask whether symptoms, examination, imaging, and other findings support the diagnosis. Discuss movement, physical therapy, treatment response, and possible eye or bowel symptoms with your care team.
