Understand the connection

CD40 is a receptor involved in communication between immune cells. Its partner, CD40L, helps activated T cells communicate with B cells and other cells that present material to the immune system.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser follows CD40–CD40L signaling into antibody responses, immune activation, and inflammation. He discusses the difference between a useful short-lived response and signaling that continues to affect healthy tissue.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
