Understand the connection

IL-13 participates in type 2 immune signaling, including mucus production, allergic inflammation, and changes in barrier tissues. It works closely with IL-4 but is a distinct signal.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects IL-13 with eosinophilic and allergic conditions and explains the shared IL-4 receptor alpha signaling pathway. Dupilumab is discussed as a medicine targeting this pathway; suitability depends on the diagnosed condition.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
