Understand the connection

IL-33 is an alarm signal stored in some barrier cells. Injury or stress can release it, helping alert the immune system that tissue needs attention.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses the ST2 receptor, type 2 immune responses, and signals involving eosinophils and allergic inflammation. This helps connect barrier injury with immune-cell activity without treating one biomarker as a complete explanation.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
