Understand the connection

IL-5 supports the development, survival, and activity of eosinophils. Eosinophils are important in some allergic and inflammatory conditions but also have normal immune functions.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects IL-5 signaling with eosinophilic asthma and other eosinophil-related conditions. Blood eosinophil counts, clinical symptoms, and the underlying diagnosis matter when considering therapies aimed at IL-5 or its receptor.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
