Hi everyone, Jackson Larkin here from Purser Wellness.

If you’ve had our Cellular Micronutrient Assay (CMA) with Redox testing, chances are you’ve looked at those two pages of results and thought, “Okay... now what does all this actually mean?” You’re not alone. This is one of the questions I hear most often from patients.

Let me walk you through exactly what each page shows, how the test works, and why these results are so powerful for creating a truly personalized plan to help you feel your best.

How the CMA with Redox Test Actually Works

The magic happens at the cellular level. From a simple blood draw, the lab isolates your white blood cells (specifically lymphocytes). These cells are then individually “fed” a comprehensive panel of nutrients and antioxidants.

By measuring how efficiently your cells take up each compound, we get an incredibly accurate picture of what your body is actually using — and what it’s missing — deep inside your cells where it matters most. This is far more insightful than standard serum blood tests that only show what’s circulating in your bloodstream at one moment in time.

Page 1: The Cellular Micronutrient Assay

This is the primary page we dive deep into during your consultation. It breaks down approximately 50 key nutrients, including:

• Vitamins

• Minerals

• Amino acids

We pay close attention to any markers that come back as:

• Borderline

• Insufficient

• Severe Deficiency

These aren’t minor notes — they’re significant red flags. When your cells show they can’t properly uptake or utilize these nutrients, it directly impacts energy production, detoxification, neurotransmitter balance, immune function, and so much more. This page forms the foundation of the custom nutrient protocols we build for our patients.

Page 2: The Antioxidant Protection Assay (The Redox Page)

This second page is equally important, especially if you’re dealing with fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, or recovery issues.

Here’s the key concept most people miss: On the Redox page, we’re not just measuring antioxidant levels. We’re measuring antioxidant protection — how well each antioxidant shields your cells from oxidative stress and damage.

When an antioxidant shows up as “Highly Protective,” it means your cells are enthusiastically taking it up and putting it to work. In our clinical experience, this is a clear signal of deficiency. Your cells are essentially saying, “This is really good for me — I need more of it!”

Key Antioxidants We Focus On

While the panel includes many compounds (some like milk thistle, melatonin, or mitake that are wonderful dietary additions), we zero in on the ones that make the biggest clinical difference when deficient:

• Glutathione — Your master antioxidant and detoxifier

• Catalase — Breaks down harmful hydrogen peroxide

• SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) — Neutralizes superoxide radicals

• CoQ10 — Critical for mitochondrial energy and heart health

• Selenium — Essential cofactor for glutathione peroxidase

• Vitamin C — Powerful free radical scavenger

• Zinc — Supports hundreds of enzymatic reactions and immune balance

When any of these come back “highly protective,” we know targeted repletion can create noticeable shifts in how you feel.

From Results to Real Results: Your Custom Nutrient Plan

This is where the CMA with Redox truly shines. We don’t just hand you a list of deficiencies. During your consultation, we walk through each relevant finding one by one and connect the dots to your symptoms.

For example:

• Struggling with fatigue or brain fog? We often see patterns with B vitamins (B12, B9/folate, B7), CoQ10, or amino acids.

• Dealing with anxiety or feeling “wired but tired”? A glycine deficiency can impair GABA production — your body’s primary calming neurotransmitter.

• Recovering slowly or feeling inflamed? Antioxidant protection markers (especially glutathione pathway nutrients) often tell the story.

We then build a custom, phased nutrient protocol tailored specifically to you — addressing deficiencies in the right order and supporting your body’s ability to actually use what we give it.

Why We Love Pairing This Test with Genetic Testing

Dr. Purser often says something that completely shifts how patients think about their results:

“These deficiencies on a CMA aren’t necessarily a nutritional problem — it’s often a genetic issue.”

Your genes (SNPs) can affect nutrient absorption, transport, conversion, and retention. That’s why we strongly recommend pairing your CMA results with our DRP Genetics test.

This advanced genetic panel looks at key SNPs that directly relate to the deficiencies we see on the CMA. When we combine both tests, we stop guessing and start working with your unique biology to bypass genetic roadblocks and help your body rebuild from the inside out.

Hello, Jackson Lurin here from Perer Wellness. I just wanted to do a brief introduction or a brief uh explanation about the two pages of our CMA cellular micronutrient assay results. Uh I get this question all the time with my patients and there's confusion about the

0:18

two pages of CMA results. When we have our patients get the CMA with Redux, it comes with two pages. Two pages, two pages of results. The first page is going to be the cellular micronutrient assay. This is the one that's the breakdown of all of 50 different

0:33

nutrients uh vitamins, minerals, and and amino acids that you may be deficient in. And so this is the key page of our of our testing results that we focus a lot on in our appointments. These exactly if you have any of these that show a borderline or an insufficient or

0:50

severe deficiency, then that makes us that's a big red flag for us that we need to address those deficiencies. Now, that's your first page of results. Your second page, if you get the redox, is the antioxidant protection assay. [music] Uh, and this is the redox page of the

1:05

results. And so, this shows, I forgot to explain one thing. When we do this test, [music] the way that they run the results in the lab or the way that they are able to calculate the results is that from a blood sample, they isolate the white blood cells. And with those

1:21

white blood cells, then they feed them all of these different nutrients. So 50 vitamins, min minerals, amino acids, and then 50 uh antioxidants on the redux [music] profile. So they feed these cells and based on the uptake of these nutrients, they're able to determine how deficient these cells are in [music]

1:37

these key nutrients. So similar thing with the redox page as well, but not only are they just feeding them and watching the the uptake of them, they're specifically watching the antioxidant protection that these antioxidant molecules give to that cell. If it's

1:53

highly protective, then that means that cell is utilizing a ton of it. Meaning in our eyes th those cells are deficient in those antioxidants. [music] Now, there's a lot of antioxidants on this profile that are not really pertinent to what we do in our practice such as milk thistle, melatonin, mitake.

2:11

There's a bunch of different ones on there. Wild cherry bark is one we see a lot. Hey, if you can get those in your diet, great. And if it shows on your results that it's highly protective, wonderful. Those are good nutrients, good foods that you can incorporate into your diet. But there's several really

2:26

key antioxidants that we like to look at on that page that when they show highly protective, we know, okay, that's a deficiency. We got to address [music] it. We got to help this person. So, a lot some of those ones, a lot of those results would be right along with glutathione, catalase, [music] sod,

2:42

CoQ10, PQQ, selenium, even uh vitamin C, uh zinc. If we see any of those as a highly protective on the redux portion of the page, boom, we know, okay, this person really your cells are saying, hey, this is a really good antioxidant

2:57

for me. I like it. I want to use it. Um, it is highly protective for me. Please give it to me. And so that's why we see it as a deficiency that we can supplement for. And that's why we have all of our supplements with Physician Design. Our great VARs line are exactly [music] for for those antioxidants. It's

3:12

really great. So these are the two parts that you get with a CMA uh test with your results. [music] And so these are exactly the deficiencies and those highly protective antioxidants that we will build a custom nutrient plan for you and then go through step by step in

3:28

each vitamin, each mineral, each amino acid and antioxidant at a time. Kind of discuss in an appointment, in a consult with us. Discuss [music] what the deficiency causes, what symptoms you may be suffering with. Let's say, are you dealing with a lot of fatigue? Well, you might have a couple different B vitamin

3:44

deficiencies, B12, B9, B7 even, uh, and even a CoQ10, maybe a really big one that's causing your brain fog. That's why we love getting this test so we can see, are you deficient in glutamine or glycine, these key amino acids that are are really dependent on building certain

4:00

key neurotransmitters in the brain such as GABA, so that you can remain calm and be a less anxious person. If you're dealing with anxiety, do you have a glycine deficiency? Let's check. Let's look. I don't know. Um otherwise, we love to pair this test with genetic

4:16

testing, especially our DRP genetics test, uh because it looks at around 200 different snips that pair perfectly with these deficiencies we see. Remember, Dr. Perser always says these deficiencies on a CMA aren't necessarily a nutritional problem. It's a genetic issue. You have

4:31

a lot of these deficiencies because your genes are [music] coding for it. And so, we're trying to work around it. We're trying to help give your body those nutrients it needs. and then it flips and it starts to rebuild and it's able to put things together as it's supposed to. So that's what we're really trying to do when we test and get genetic

4:48

testing and when we get the CMA results. So if you have questions, reach out to our office, get this testing done. Every now and again we'll run a good sale on it. Otherwise, get it with the console bundle. Come work with me or other coaches or even with Dr. Perer. We have a new doctor, Dr. Harleen on board with us. And we're all fantastic at walking

5:05

you through exactly these things. We do this day in day out with our patients. [music] We see so many of these same symptoms and we just get you on your own custom plan and watch our patients get better. Dr. Perser has all those num number one fivestar reviews for a reason because this is a really cool process and

5:21

[music] no one else is goes as deep as we do and has kind of the algorithm brain that Dr. Perer has to put this all together. So if you're dealing with any symptoms, if [music] you just ever since COVID or ever since a car accident or some other trauma just haven't felt [music] the same, let's get a CMA done.

5:38

Let's see what you're deficient in and let's see if we can't flip something for [music] you and get you feeling great. Optimization is key. That's what we're after. So, thank you for watching. If you if you had any questions about what those cellular assay results mean, uh then hopefully this video is a little

5:53

bit helpful for you. Otherwise, always reach out to our office. We're happy to help uh field [music] these kinds of questions and point you in the right direction so that we can best optimize you. Thanks. [music]
