Understand the connection

Adenomyosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining is present within the uterine muscle. It can be associated with heavy bleeding, painful periods, and pelvic discomfort.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses IL-6, TNF-alpha, other inflammatory signals, tissue remodeling, and the interaction between inflammation and hormone-related processes. Cytokines are one part of the picture, rather than a substitute for a gynecological evaluation.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how symptoms, imaging, bleeding-related anemia, and reproductive goals affect treatment choices. A genetic or cytokine result alone cannot establish adenomyosis.
