Understand the connection

Bone contains a protein scaffold as well as minerals. Amino acids supply the building blocks for collagen and other proteins that contribute to strength.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses lysine, glycine, proline, and other amino acids involved in connective tissue, alongside adequate overall protein and vitamin C. This helps explain why bone care is broader than calcium alone.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask whether food intake and absorption provide enough protein and whether the rest of your bone-health evaluation is complete. A specific amino acid result should be interpreted with the whole profile.
