Understand the connection

DDAH1 is an enzyme that helps break down asymmetric dimethylarginine, or ADMA. ADMA can interfere with nitric oxide production, which matters for the normal relaxation of blood vessels.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser follows ADMA, nitric oxide synthase, endothelial function, and oxidative stress. DDAH1 is not a cytokine, even when it appears in a discussion of vascular inflammation.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask whether ADMA, blood pressure, kidney function, or another measured finding is relevant to your situation. A genetic entry alone cannot show how much nitric oxide your vessels are producing.
