Understand the connection

Eosinophilic asthma is one pattern of airway inflammation. Eosinophils and type 2 immune signals can help explain why some therapies work better for particular asthma patterns.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, eosinophil activity, and oxidative stress in the airways. He discusses therapies directed at type 2 signaling alongside the separate roles of glutathione, superoxide dismutase, and catalase.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how eosinophil counts, lung function, symptoms, and exacerbation history affect treatment. Continue an asthma action plan and review any supplements with the prescribing clinician.
