Understand the connection

IL-22 helps immune cells communicate with barrier tissues such as the skin, intestines, and lungs. It can support repair but can also participate in inflammation when signaling is out of balance.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser describes the IL-22R1 and IL-10R2 receptor complex and the role of Th17, Th22, and innate lymphoid cells. The same signal can have different effects depending on the tissue and the surrounding immune response.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
