Understand the connection

Polymyalgia rheumatica, or PMR, often causes shoulder and hip-girdle pain with substantial morning stiffness. Similar symptoms can have other causes.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser focuses on IL-6, innate immune activity, and the distinction between inflammation and the person’s nutrient or antioxidant status. He discusses corticosteroids and selected IL-6 pathway treatments within the wider treatment conversation.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how symptoms and inflammatory markers support the diagnosis and how treatment effects will be monitored. New headache, jaw pain with chewing, or visual symptoms need prompt assessment for an associated vascular condition.
