Why do we use the varss triad? That's glutathione, catalase, and superoxide dismutase. These three amazing antioxidants together. But why do we need to use all three of them? What's really cool with sod and catalase? These are the frontline defense against superoxide radicals within your cells, especially in the mitochondria of your
cells. Every time we make ATP, when a carbohydrate goes through the process to make energy, ATP currency of our cells, we produce oxidants as a byproduct of that. We make ATP, we make water and oxygen. But sometimes some of those oxygen molecules are supercharged. They become super oxides. So our body uses
enzymes called super oxide dismutase to stabilize. What it does is turn super oxides into hydrogen peroxide. But then you start to get a buildup of more and more hydrogen peroxide. So our body has another enzyme to help protect against that and that's called catalace where it turns hydrogen peroxide into H2O and O2.
Stable O2, stable oxygen. Glutathione is so cool because it bounces around during that whole process. It helps stabilize and helps boost all of those different things. There's also glutathione peroxidase as the last part of that chain and then glutathione. But glutathione itself can stabilize and help stabilize super oxide radicals. And
what's really cool with glutathione is it's an electron donor. That's the way reduced glutathione GSH is a very sticky molecule is the way we like to talk about it. Glutathione is ready to donate an electron to a free radical to stabilize it. That ion, a charged particle is what causes havoc. It can
damage DNA and destroy proteins and other things within the cells. Oxidants are very dangerous for this reason. And super oxides are some of the most potent oxidants. So glutathione can step in and help lower those effects of superoxides as well. But when that happens, glutathione can only be used once and then it has to go through a process
through glutathione reductase to be broken apart from a glutathione molecule sorry from two glutathione molecules become GSSG. And so through glutathione peroxidase, it can separate them again and become GSH, a single ready to work glutathione molecule. Again, if you have genetic issues around being able to
reduce glutathione, you may always be less efficient at it. And so if glutathione is all going to stabilizing superoxide radicals and other free radicals and oxidants, then you're not going to have all the great benefits of detox and immune system support. Everything just less efficient. All these systems work side by side, but you
only have so many resources, so only so much can go to each at any given time. So that's exactly why bringing this all back around why we do the vars triad sod and catalase. If we can supplement with these antioxidant enzymes as well as glutathione we can free up the glutathione to go and support the other
systems. Get superoxide dismutase and catalyze right in the body where they can stabilize those superoxide radicals. Never let hydrogen peroxide get too high either with the catalase and then let glutathione go and do its job. Fight all those other toxins boost energy throughout every different cell type.
This triad is what works so well for so many of our patients. And this is where we're seeing these amazing anti-inflammatory benefits for people where we're helping remove inflammation at a very molecular level. If there's enough glutathione in the system, cytoine levels will lower. Cytoines are those pro-inflammatory molecules. If you
have too much homoyine, if you have too many other markers, you're going to have too many cytoines going crazy. If you remember during 2020 years, there was a big term called the cytoine storm that a lot of people had to deal with. And guess what? If they had had glutathione in that time, you could have really reduced that cytoine storm. So that's
what we're kind of seeing now, an inflammation kind of developing in all kinds of different ways manifesting itself in different parts of the body. And it's all caused by this overabundance of cytoines and lack of glutathione. So boost your glutathione levels, give those other antioxidants that work right alongside glutathione,
sod and catalates, the sister molecules to glutathione, and let your body stabilize. Balance it all out. It knows what to do. Otherwise, how do you get started with this? Get genetic testing done. Get the intracellular testing done. Buy some bars glutathione. Just try it. Start low. Go slow. But let your body work through it. It knows what to
do with these things.
