Understand the connection

Relapsing polychondritis can cause recurring inflammation of cartilage, including the ears, nose, joints, and sometimes the airway. Different affected areas create different risks.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects chemokines such as IL-8, CCL2/MCP-1, and CCL4 with Th1/Th17 signaling and cytokines including TNF-alpha, IL-6, and IL-1 beta. He discusses the interaction of immune-cell recruitment and tissue injury.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which organs need monitoring and how disease activity will be controlled. Breathing difficulty, voice changes, or hearing problems warrant prompt assessment.
